Local Business Marketing

local business marketingWe’ve all seen the effects of great local business marketing. Just think of the last time you’ve noticed a local business that suddenly appears on the radar seemingly out of nowhere.  You know the one talking about.  It’s like you didn’t even know they existed and BOOM they’re everywhere.  They are the one business that everyone is talking about, the one everyone in your local area seems to be using…or wanting to use.

Interestingly they are not the cheapest option around – often not by a long shot – but they are still gaining status as the preferred choice. Even to someone who hasn’t used their services yet something seems different about them.  Their public face has a different look and feel about it – from their advertising, to their vehicles – heck even their employees seem to look and act just a little bit different than what you’d expect.

Marketing Ideas For Small Business Learned In Las Vegas

marketing ideas for small business from Las Vegas
Having just re-EXPERIENCED the glitz and glamor of Las Vegas again during my recent speaking engagement I can’t help but come away with the thought that Vegas Should Inspire A Flood Of Marketing Ideas For Small Business

Now I know what you’re thinking – “What happens in Vegas, STAYS in Vegas” – but I’m wonder if that is just their ploy so you don’t leave with ideas that can make your business and your small corner of the world a lot more compelling and engaging for your prospects and customers.

In fact it’s that word “ENGAGING” that is the real takeaway from the whole Las Vegas experience.

Drastic Changes Call For Drastic ACTION!

If you’ve been around this blog for a while or have ever heard me speak live then you’ve heard me say…

“If you operate your own small business or service business you are NOT a Plumber, a Carpet Cleaner, a Financial Planner, a Renovator or <<place whatever service you offer here>>”

You are first and foremost…

“A MARKETER of the services your company provides!”

WHY am I so adamant in urging that the “marketing” of your business is your #1 JOB above all others and one that you MUST learn, understand and handle personally?

Watch this cool little video I stumbled across and I think it will sums up why it has become more important than EVER for every small business owner to learn how to properly market thier business in the new Relationship Economy we now find ourselves operating in.

Overlooked Pillar Of Profit for Service Business Marketing

pillarThere is “something” that I’d say 98% of all small businesses don’t either know about or have don’t have an effective understanding of and it is one of the pillars of POWER and PROFIT

And that “something” is Sequencing you marketing message.

We preach that…

“By simply building a sequence of communications into each and every one of your marketing messages you will have exponentially greater success with those campaigns.”

Now that sequencing makes sense to most of us when we think of our database.  Every database promotion we do should include a minimum of 3 contacts – one to announce the offer, one to remind about the offer and then one to announce the final chance to take advantage of the offer.

And by the way it’s usually the 3rd message that generates the largest number of calls for the campaign but it is set up by the sequencing of the communication and the agitation to act that it will generate when done right.

But there are many another sequential marketing opportunity you have and the first one is perhaps one of the most important – yet it is still rare to see implemented by most small businesses.

Are You Processing Transactions… or Building Relationships?

infoIt saddens me when I see that the majority of businesses I interact with, either as a consumer or those I work closely with, are simply just processing transactions rather than even attempting to build valuable, lasting relationships.

In case you haven’t noticed…

We Are IN A Brand New Economy!!

This isn’t just a “phase”. Things aren’t going to go back to “the way they were”. Things are fundamentally different now and I’m sorry to break it to you my friend but from here there is absolutely NO GOING BACK.

And with this NEW economy comes much more strict rules for business survival and success.  What all businesses (and especially those of us in the in-home service sector) MUST be focusing on if we want to remain relevant and survive… is how we can improve, add more value, be more helpful, deliver joy and build deeper more mutually beneficial relationship in EVERT customer interaction we have.

It certainly sounds like a tall order but this is actually one of the biggest Missed Opportunities in business today… and one of the most easily fixed.
